Matthew is an avid Tampa Bay area historian who found the rich history and fragile ecosystem of Egmont Key compelling to both study and help protect. With a background in media development, marketing, and content creation, Matthew is eager to tell the story of Egmont Key, hoping to inspire others to become involved in the island’s preservation.
“Once a person visits the Key, sees its natural beauty, and hears the story of the island that includes Spanish explorers, Seminole relocation, rum runners, military fortifications across several wars and both tragic and triumphant personal tales they will certainly understand the need to protect what may be the most historically significant yet threatened island in Florida.”
