WE ARE NATURE

"We Are Nature" is a powerful reminder of our inherent connection with the natural world. By recognizing this interdependence and actively regenerating our environment, we can make a positive impact on the planet we call home.

We tend to see nature as a resource that is available for our benefit, but we often forget that we have a responsibility to regenerate and preserve it. Biodiversity encompasses every living thing and ecosystem, including ourselves. Studies reveal that disconnection from nature leads to increased stress, negative moods, and decreased attention spans, which environmental writer Richard Louv has coined as "nature deficit disorder." However, being in nature has a profound effect on us - it makes us feel alive, connected, and emotionally inspired, while reducing negative stress and boosting our creativity.

To truly understand the essence of "We Are Nature," we must embrace the concept of interdependence. Indigenous peoples have always known this fundamental truth - that we are nature, and nature is us. Our failure to recognize this interconnectedness has led us to the environmental challenges we face today. Tonio Sadik, Director of Environment, Assembly of First Nations, wisely states that the relationship between humans and nature must be one of interdependence. Acknowledging this simple truth is the first step towards healing our planet.

Here are some ways Take MAR's team suggests to regenerate your bond and interconnectedness with nature:

1. Read books about nature or listen to podcasts, the more we learn about our environment the more we fall in love with it.

2. Walk barefoot in the sand or grass and ground yourself to awaken all of your senses as you walk.

3. Go bird watching, or sit outside and look at the wild animals. Just like us, animals are a part of this interconnected planet, and we are all part of it.

4. Plant trees, grow a vegetable and herb garden, or plant flowers. Providing a new space for plants to grow (especially for ones that we eat, or provide us with shade, or beautiful flowers) helps us connect even deeper.

5. Take a dip in the water. Whether you are close to the beach, a lake, a river, or even your pool. Plunge yourself into the water and feel how you and water become one.

We LOVE creating a renewed connection with nature, which is precisely why we've chosen "We Are Nature" as the theme for our summer collection. We hope you were able to grab some of our bracelets from our little words collaboration. If you missed them, don't worry - our summer collection is still available. By purchasing from this collection, you'll directly contribute to funding our regeneration projects
