Celebrating the New Era of the Alliance

On January 30th, the Egmont Key Alliance Committee’s annual meeting of the alliance took place at Tampa Bay Watch's beautiful location. Members from MAR board, EKAC board, EKAC members, and those interested in EKAC gathered for an evening filled with casual conversation, networking, and appreciation for the breathtaking sunset.

The atmosphere was laid-back, with delicious food from Twisted Indian and refreshing kombucha from St. Pete Ferments. As the sun dipped below the horizon, attendees enjoyed the scenic views and engaged in discussions about the past, present, and future of the alliance.

In October 2023, EKA passed on its legacy, work, and membership to Take MAR. The collaborative meeting that followed delved into the various ways the alliance has contributed to the restoration and preservation of Egmont Key over the past three decades. From historic building restoration to sea turtle nesting protection, the alliance's efforts were acknowledged and discussed.

Special thanks were extended to Twisted Indian, St. Pete Ferments, Tampa Bay Watch, and Hubbard's Marina for their contributions to the event. Hubbard's Marina generously donated two free tickets to Egmont Key for a raffle, adding an extra element of excitement to the gathering.

The event closed with gratitude for the community's commitment and passion. Everyone who played a role, whether big or small, in making the evening a success was appreciated. Looking ahead, the alliance is set for another year of collaboration and contributions to the preservation of Egmont Key.
